Here's how to get your digital signage on the Drill Hall Library and Pilkington screens

Please email your request to DHL Support Team dhlhelp@medway.ac.uk at least ten working days before you’d like your content to go live.

Make sure you use Request to Publish Digital Signage Content as your subject line. In the message, please include:

·         Your name

·         Your faculty or directorate

·         The start and end dates for when you’d like your content displayed

·         The screen locations  where you’d like it to appear.

Universities at Medway news and events take priority, but we’ll consider all other requests individually.

Submitting your content

You will need to know the following to submit content for our digital signage screens:

Formats

·         Images will be displayed for up to 10 seconds at a time

·         Videos can vary in length depending on location and purpose – we recommend keeping them under 30 seconds, but we review each submission     individually

·         Audio isn’t supported, so make sure your content works without sound.

·         Only supported file formats can be uploaded.

Updates and timing

·         Digital signage is usually refreshed weekly or as needed

·         University holidays may affect response times, so please plan ahead

·         Unless otherwise arranged, your signage will be removed at midnight on your specified end date.

Standards

·         Your submission must follow our digital signage guidelines and meet our quality standards

·         If it fails to do this, we will return it with feedback so you can make changes and resubmit it, please allow enough time to do this

·         Common reasons your content may be returned include copyright issues, poor image quality, and spelling and grammar errors

·         Any disagreement about the suitability of content will be referred for arbitration to the Drill Hall Library Managers

IT and Library Services, under supervision, reserves the right to broadcast content to any and all screens under certain emergency circumstances.

Guidelines

If you’re a member of Universities at Medway staff, find out how our digital signage could help publicise your event and how digital signage can get your message across on campus:

What is digital signage?

Digital signage is the use of digital screens to display informative and promotional content.

Digital signage locations

Display screens are strategically placed around the Drill Hall library and Pilkington in areas of high traffic so that as many people as possible can see them. They are used primarily to publicise activities and events, as well as a range of university-wide campaigns. Advertisements for external commercial activities are not accepted.

Who is the audience?

The core audience for our digital signage is current students. Other people who view our screens include internal staff, our partners, prospective students and their parents, carers and influencers, and tourists. You may want to bear these groups in mind when you write your copy, particularly if they could influence your core student audience.

Adding impact with other promotional material

If you want to reach more people, you could try combining digital signage with other promotional material. For example, if you’re promoting an event, you could create a webpage with all the details, then use your digital signage to point people towards it. You could also add your social media channels to the digital signages to direct followers to your event.

Unacceptable content

  • Insulting and derogatory comments
  • Any Inappropriate material or material promoting illegal activities.
  • Commercial advertising
  • Copyright material (both images and text) without permission of the copyright owner
  • Personal information without consent
  • Other confidential or commercially sensitive information
  • Content that may cause damage to the reputation of the university
  • In addition, the use of clipart is strongly discouraged.
