Change to double-sided printing 07.07.10 14:10

As part of our commitment to green initiatives, printing within the Drill Hall library will be changing. From Tuesday 13 July 2010 all black and white printers will default to printing on both sides of the paper, not just one. Schools may still prefer submissions to be printed single-sided and this will still be available, but you must positively select this option from the printer menus.

Summer changes 28.06.10 15:20

Over the summer there are some exciting developments happening in the library. Work is underway in the Group Zone to convert the former training room and adjacent PC room into a social learning zone. This will be an area where you can bring your own food to eat, there will be a couple of vending machines and a small cafe serving hot/cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks. The new space will be equipped with a variety of furniture - both cafe style and comfy sofas - as well as four diner booths equipped with a large display screen and PC/laptop connectivity for group working.

Training will be moved upstairs and will accommodate 25 delegates instead of 18. Fifty netbooks will be available for use within the new social learning zone and throughout the library.

The foyer area is being revamped with a fresh new Welcome Desk and brand new self-service machines using the latest RFID technology. Issuing and returning books will be faster and easier, with the ability to pay fines directly at one of the machines.

We will have a new Help point in the Quiet Zone with staff on hand 'roaming' the library throughout the day and available to help with basic enquiries whilst you are at your study space. More indepth IT and Library support will be available in our new consultation room.

Inevitably this work will cause some disruption and areas in the library may be inaccessible at certain times. We will endeavour to keep this to a minimum and apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Notice to all completing students 29.04.10 10:48

If you are completing your studies this summer please make sure your library account is clear of all books and fines before you leave. Failure to do so may result in your award certificate being withheld. If you have outstanding charges we would encourage you to come into the Drill Hall to discuss this with us as soon as possible so that we can help you sort out your account. We are aware that you have exams in the coming weeks and would urge you to clear your account so you can concentrate on your studies.
