General Printing
-
Before you can print you need to purchase printer credits.
There are 10 black & white and 3 colour printers located within the library. The name of each printer is shown on the poster above each printer, along with directions to the nearest colour printer. BW followed by a number means it is a black and white printer. Colour followed by a number means it is a colour printer.

All black and white printers default to printing on both sides of the paper, not just one. Single-sided printing will still be available, but you must positively select this option from the printer menus. It is important that you consider this change when printing your work. Schools may still require submissions to be single-sided, which is still available.
How do I print my work single-sided?
- Simply select the queue for your printer that is associated with the printer that is single-sided, ie BW08 not BW08_Double-sided.
Does my school accept double-sided printing for coursework submission?
- Submission formats are a matter of policy for the schools. If you have any questions regarding submission formats please contact them for advice.
Who decided to make this change and why?
- The change has been agreed by the Universities of Greenwich, Kent and Canterbury Christ Church as part of their commitment to reducing production in greenhouse gasses, both at the Medway campus and across all institution campuses
Can I print colour double-sided?
- Colour printing will still default to single-sided but if you wish to print double-sided simply select the double-sided queue from the printer menu.
You are automatically assigned the nearest black and white and colour printer.

Paper
We are currently running a trial with recycled paper and if all goes well we hope to move to using this shortly.
Unfortunately we are unable to allow you to bring your own paper for use in our printers. Certain types of paper can cause printer jams, or the toner will not adhere to the surface.
Poster Printing
-
There are two large scale plotters which can be used to print A2, A1 and A0 size posters.
Prices are as follows:
- A0 = £3.20
- A1 = £1.60
- A2 = £0.80
Students should bring in their design on a USB key to the Student Support Zone located in the corridor off the Group Zone. Due to the complexity of printing posters, our staff will be pleased to assist with printing your document. Posters can normally be printed on a while you wait basis but at busy times you may be requested to collect the poster at a later time or date. Where your tutor has made prior arrangements with the library for printing posters for a specific assignment you should follow carefully any hand-in instructions as we cannot guarantee to print your poster if you have not followed the correct procedure.
Prior to starting your poster, we recommend that you read this short guide and then download the appropriate template to start the poster creation process:

You can photocopy onto acetates or overhead transparencies (OHTs) but you must use those purchased from the library (many makes of acetates melt in the copying machines, so please don't use types other than ours!)
