Alumni

Membership is available to alumni from the University of Greenwich (UoG), University of Kent (UoK) and Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU).

You can choose between two levels of access.

  • Reference — free of charge.
  • Borrower status — £50 per annum.

How to join

To join the Drill Hall you will need to register with us.

UoG alumni

You will need to bring to the Drill Hall:

  • an alumni card — available free from the UoG alumni website;
  • proof of identity, eg your passport or driving licence; and
  • proof of address (if this is not on your proof of identification), eg utility bill.

UoK and CCCU alumni

You will need to bring to the Drill Hall:

  • a copy of your university award certificate;
  • proof of identity, eg your passport or driving licence;
  • proof of address (if this is not on your proof of identification), eg utility bill; and
  • a passport-sized photograph.

We will ask you to complete a registration form and sign to confirm acceptance of the Drill Hall rules before issuing you with a library membership card and user information. Registration is only available between of 9am and 8.30pm Monday to Thursday, 9am and 5.30pm Friday and 11am and 4.30pm at the weekend. Please check our opening hours before you visit.

You will need to bring your Universities at Medway library card with you on every visit and sign in at reception.

Alumni may also like to consult their home institution website to see whether they are eligible for free reading rights at their other home institution libraries.

What we can offer you

If you choose reference and PC access only we can offer you:

  • access to the Drill Hall;
  • reference access to over 90,000 academic texts and journals;
  • use of 250 study spaces;
  • use of photocopying facilities, binding machines and DVD playback equipment; and
  • access to daily newspapers.

If you choose borrower status we can offer you all of the above plus:

  • a personal library account; and
  • entitlement to borrow up to five ordinary or 7-day loan items from the Drill Hall stock at any one time.

To avoid any misunderstanding please note that study loans, overnight loans, inter-site loans (items located at Avery Hill or Maritime Greenwich), inter -library loans, theses/dissertations and reservations are excluded from the scheme.

Additionally, due to educational licence agreements, electronic databases, electronic books and journals and specialist software are not available to alumni members.
